Cable through wood or brick - waterproofing ?

Feb 01, 2005 5 Replies

What is best to use to waterproof the entrance point through a wooden window frame of a TV cable?

TIA

drill the hole diagonally down and make sure if the cable is running upwards then have a small 'U' bend running down before it turns upwards so that any water running down the cable will not flow into the hole.

if you must drill thru the frame seal with some silicone / bathroom sealant. Note that you wont be able to paint over this though but it is water proof.

Silicone or acrylic sealer.

The very best way is NOT to. Drill through the wall at an angle and drip loop it before entry.
