Good point. I'll *probably* be using softwood or possibly MDF (still undecided). Don't seem to be getting votes for the Screwfix stuff then. Thanks all.

Why? All the router cutters I've ever seen have two flat edges. Run a diamond hone over them and the cutter sharpens up. Router cutters must be the simplest things to sharpen in the world.

Why not just buy one of the cheap Screwfix (single) bits and make a few hundred test runs that would simulate the work you are planning to do? If you're still happy with the quality of the results you're getting at the end of the test, then commit to the whole set of bits. If you're not happy you could either practice sharpening the bit and seeing if that helps, or if you really need to recoupl the few pounds it cost, put it up on ebay as a used item.
