Just had new washbasin with pop up waste and a new central mixer tap with aeriator that is directly above it.
I am noticing that often with the tap running it seems to not drain properly and the sink starts to fill. I am begining to think that the bubbles in the water interfere with the ability of the drain to take the water!
Any thoughts?
Remove the aerator temporarily and see if the problem persists. (I think they either screw in or are just a push fit. IME they're not difficult to remove
Why would you need to airiate the water in a wash basin, its not exactly a hot tub is it?

They are often fitted to new taps as standard as its meant to save water.
They are supposed to be water economy devices. And of course BS to encourage the dopey to think they are getting something special.
There is something wrong with your drain. Blockage, airlock or insufficient fall.
They prevent splashback if your pressure is a bit high.
What happens if you lift the plug out and try then (with most popup wastes the plug is not fixed in place and just rests on the lifting mechanism).
Likewise, what happens if you poor water from a bucket into the sink, does it drain differently then?
