i need to box in a WC Frame

and was wondering what material is normally used/the best i.e. MDF, marine ply, water-resistant plasterboard? I am thinking of either painting or tiling the surface.boxing in cistern - materials?

If painting, MDF or plasterboard. If tiling. either those or ply or in fact any old crap - like scrap flooring chipboard - will do.

I used old polystyrene sheet, which gives insulation as well.
