Boiler location

I am getting close to getting some estimates for fitting a new boiler and want to consider locating it in the loft.

If I do - will a wireless programmable thermostat communicate reliably from downstairs. I realise I could locate the receiver somewhere else but I want to reduce any wiring so that I don't get charged more.

No reason at all why you should not locate the reciever close to the boiler.

Can't speak for all manufacturers but our Alpha CD32C combi is in the loft and works very well with the 7-day Wireless EasyStat timer/programmer/stat in the hallway, so I don't see a problem.

downstairs. I realise I could locate the receiver

Should work, especially if the signal only has to pass through a couple of ceilings rather than walls.

Beware of foil backed plaster board. Personally I'd put the reciever where I could see the indicator lights without having to poke my head through the loft hatch. Heatings not on, stats calling, has the Rx seen the signal...
