Belling Grill trips RCD, Oven fine

'afternoon.

I've inherited a Belling Multifunction Double Oven from the previous occupants. It's been fine for ~6 months. However, on the last few attempts, using the top oven part causes the house 30mA RCD to trip out. (i.e. the power goes out to the whole house.)

(When I say "using", I mean either putting the grill part on for about

10 minutes, or switching on power to one of the top oven settings.)

This doesn't happen with the lower unit (so we can still cook), but its worrysome.

Any ideas what may be causing this? I can pull out the unit and tighten up a few wires, after that do I need an electrician or an oven specialist?

Thanks.

Could be a damaged wire, but I expect the element is shorting/leaking to earth. I'd get the oven out, check for obvious damage first, then change the element.
