My brother thought much the same way as you. Being very good at his job (tax avoidance accountant for rich people and businesses) he had a *lot* of corporate dining, Lodge dinners, fine wines, big cigars, large steaks, that sort of thing. Boy, did he enjoy his food. The sudden heart attack killed him at the age of 55.

wait until you are older - you might change your mind.

I doubt there are many folk left here who are so young. ;-) I imagine most of us are well past that.

Tim

How old is older? I’ll be 70 this year.

I think a lot of folk do change their minds late in life, when it’s far too late to have any significant effect. “Pissing in the wind” comes to mind.

Tim

I'll be 76 if I survive the year. Soimany frieds are dead...

I am not sure I would have changed anything even if I had known. I didn't expect to make it this far anyway..

They will be getting a concerned email tomorrow.

Thanks for the info!

Could you be suffering from a bad batch? Two replacements doing exactly the same thing suggests it is possible. How about trying a clone element suitable for your Belling rather that a Belling one.

I have an Electrolux cooker with two identical elements to give half grill or full grill options. When an element failed I bought a replacement from espares.co.uk. Their search process asked for make and model of the unit that you are ordering for, and the results only show compatible items, so it is difficult to go wrong. My replacement grill element is a slightly brighter colour when fully heated compared the remaining original, but it doesn't seem to make any difference to the grilling across the full grill. It was a bit cheaper than the Electrolux version too.

I wonder where the OP bought the elements from? Whether you like them or not, Belling have had a good reputation with consumers for over a hundred years and when Glen Dimplex took them over, they didn't try and bury the name or anything. I wonder if the OP has had a knock-off copy passed off as a genuine replacement?

Nick

They are genuine items, I rang up Belling and they said they don't have any in stock but they are made to order by their element supplier.

RCD or MCB?

If the former, it sounds like, on heating something is causing a ‘leakage’ problem - possibly something expanding and making contact.

Check things like mounting screws etc aren’t close to the element. Are they all the same length? Have you swapped them around ?

I assume the two elements have different controls, possible one unit but with two outputs.

Can you swap things so the control 1 is driving element 2 etc. it could be a control issue.

CPN RC263/030 63A

So an RCD I assume.

One of these:

Nope, I was careful to keep everything the same. I have had no problem with previous element changes, just these ones.

Yep, two seperate controls.

I have tried the good element in both grills, it is fine.

It's very frustrating!
