Bang goes Zog energy.

I had one food parcel before finding a supermarket who would deliver. To priority customers. Those who couldn't safely go shopping themselves. And I'd never had a grocery delivery before that.

Just like the EU, interfering in the market for political reasons and making a right buggers muddle of it.

FFS the Government doesn't have any money either. They only have the money they have taken from us.

Of course. You are preaching to the converted.

Of course. Those in the know made exactly that point. Those in control just decided to ignore it.

That's open for debate and it will take some time for the final position to be known. What isn't in doubt is that the Government is still complaining that the EU *ought* to still be providing those collaborations and benefits that *we* want.

Cosset is dishonest language.

Yeah, it would be a lot cheaper to just let them die.

Same with the road toll instead of improving the roads.

Or the petty squabbles we've always had with our (ex) EU partners are still continuing.

Blimey, that £2 Trillion in debt is being taken from future generations of taxpayers, some of which aren't even a glint in the milkmans eye yet.

But accurately describes how so many people many to milk the system (It's all the fault of the 'rules' that forced us to claim all those handouts that we didn't actually need, ditto MP's expenses)

No it would be cheaper to tell the sloth porkers to stop shovelling so much high-fat and high sugar food into their faces. Get a dog and go out walking. 10% of the NHS budget apparently is pissed up the wall 'treating' so-called type 2 diabetis and GP's get paid extra to 'manage' them.

Best way to reduce potholes is reduce the number of vehicles on road, reduce the number of vanity vehicles like 4x4 SUV's that weigh well over 2 tonnes and do more road damage. Car tax should be related to the vehicles size, the type of fuel, and the number of driven axles. Every vehicle using the roads should pay a basic road 'tax', none of this £30 for driving diesel car, or £0 for many hybrid and EV's. Then layer the extra charges mentioned above on top.

NOT AT ALL.

The single biggest failing of the liberal chattering classes is that they say that "more Government Money" is the answer to everything. Mrs. Thatcher had it right when she talked about "kitchen economics". You can only feed money to one area by taking it from another. Even if you do it by borrowing, it has come from somewhere and you have incentivised that by generating a debt that needs servicing.

The Labour cry of "Tax the rich" looks appealing until you do the sums. Proponents of wealth taxes deliberately confuse wealth and money, which are *not* the same thing. Let's suppose we confiscate the grouse moors and give an acre of each to all the poorest families. It's not actually of any benefit to them. They can only turn it into money by selling it, and who is going to buy?

Mansion taxes (sort of) work, but then that is only really an increase in Council Tax. It has to hit a significant proportion of the population to raise serious money. Maybe it frees up the housing market a bit by forcing pensioners to sell up and downsize.

If only the electorate were better educated in economics, we would not have to suffer the present set of clowns.

There isn't anything even remotely like £2 Trillion in debt from that stupid way of regulating the energy market.

It isn't in fact engineered, it happens anyway.

but this time the biggest

Nope, most obviously with the NHS.

(It's all the fault of the 'rules' that forced

No one is forced to claim the aged pension, or even to use NHS services like vaccination.

Corbyn wasn?t forced to binge on MP's expenses.

That would be a complete waste of money, they would just ignore that.

Get a dog and go out walking. 10% of the NHS budget

Yeah, it would be a lot cheaper to let them die as soon as possible.

I wasn?t talking about pot holes.

is reduce the number of vehicles

It's far from clear that that is true of pot holes.

But it is very far from clear that 4x4 SUV's that weigh well over

2 tonnes in fact do that much more road damage given that normal delivery trucks, let alone HGVs do the bulk of the road damage.

Plenty here will be rich on paper due to high house prices. And that of little use to them, unless they sell up and don't have to buy another.

But. Many will get very annoyed by the likes of Amazon obviously making a great deal of money in the UK but paying little in the way of taxes. Same as so many multi-national firms. If they had lots of well paid workers who then paid a decent amount of tax it wouldn't be so bad. But they tend to make their profits on the back of a poorly paid workforce. Often subsidised by the rest of us with Universal Credit, etc.

Amazon staff are largely unskilled and rates reflect this.

A quick look at their rates show they are compete with retail staff who have similar skill levels.

If you want to earn serious money then get the qualifications to get the job.

Remember, if companies like Amazon and supermarkets pay more, prices will increase- the money has to come from somewhere.

EDF (ex-Utility Point customers)

Electricity unit rate: 20.31p per kWh Daily standing charge: 23.77p per day

Gas unit rate: 3.987p per kWh Daily standing charge: 26.12p per day

Wrong, Amazon pays a *lot* of taxes. What they minimise is their corporation tax bill. It's the fact that some countries "defect" and offer low CT that makes this possible. And, if governments bought in a new sort of turnover-related tax payable in the country of operation, this would not actually make a difference. Yes, the government would collect some revenue which they could use, for example, to reduce your income tax. But the money has to come from somewhere, and it would come from the customers in the form of higher prices. So you might wave some sort of banner over a supposedly moral victory, but you would not be financially any better off.

Economics 101.
