Well I thought about that, but it was 3 days ago now. Surely they'd be looking for it. I'll look as soon as I've found where the port is.

The battery has been on charge for 4 hours. When disconnected it now reads 12.1V. Measuring the car load (between the disconnected battery leads) shows about 7k Ohms. The engine starts and the battery voltage reads 13.3V. I assume this indicates that there are no hard and heavy loads present, and that the alternator is working (the battery in the boot is a few metres from the alternator).
Up under the dash, near the driver's knees.
Ha! Cue my whinge about VW and electronics too clever to allow your vehicle to be used:-(

And impossible to see unless the vehicle is up on a ramp:-(
Ehhh, not sure about the alternator: with the engine revved, the voltage should be higher -- 14.1 Volts, ISTR up 14.8 Volts...

Usually when the connection between the cells develops a bad connection.
I didn't
Lion batteries are bad for that...junk
just does
last just over a year
just replaced the battery in the Mustang let me down outside a sewage works... Yuesa £88 from Amazon price of a tank of petrol RRP £150
Yep, got the same result myself with the original genuine battery in the 2006 Hyundai Getz. When it had gone bad, you would just get a click when attempting to start the engine with the dash lights going well down and nothing else. Even a jumper start wouldnt work. It always came good eventually, in half an hour or so just waiting and trying to start the car. It was well out of the 7 year warranty by then.
Eventually I just gave up, called a mate to take me to buy a new battery when it failed to start when way from home agaion. Returned to the car with the new battery, of corse the car started fine even before I had replaced the battery. Drove home, replaced the battery, never had the problem again.
That mate of mine wanted the bad battery for his solar system so I was happy to give it to him. It worked fine for years but that system never needed the high current load that starting a car engine needs. I assumed it was just a bad joint in the connection between the cells internally.

Never had a single warranty problem and even after 17 years bought new, have only had a problem with the windscreen washer bottle. It doesnt fill with water, the added water ends up on the ground under the car when its filled. Awkard to get at so I got a good one from a wrecked Getz but haven't got around to even looking at what the problem is with the original. The filler pipe is part of the whole moulded tank so the original may be split or something.
You have never got anything like that result with any of your steaming turd yank tanks or the other steaming turds with wheels.
Indeed. 13.8 is the 'I'm just on charge' voltage.
14 or over may be a tad optimistic. On a flat battery
Well you can still drive in limp mode.
Limp mode on a jaguar is full power on a ford fiesta. But it is always worrying.
My VW has been nagging about glo plugs since the last service. I tried a resistance reading and got infinity on all four! Meter zeroes ok. I suppose they are about due for replacement but I don't believe they would all fail in a matter of a few months when it is hardly used. Thank you London Transport.
Having a prang is always a good battery killer, usually happens about a week after getting it back from the repair shop.
