Ariston LS2040 Dishwasher

Grateful for any help with the following problem.

Tablet dispenser does not open during wash cycle.

Main question, when during the cycle should it open?

I have access to solenoid that controls it and measured the voltage over its terminals, 50V at start of cycle dropping to around 12V half way through, staying at this voltage till rinse / dry cycle starts.

Any clues?

Disconnect the solenoid from the rest of the circuit and check its resistance, it sounds as if it might be open circuit.

[T] Depending on the range on your meter it looks like you have an open cct solenoid?

All the best ..

If you are sure it is a simple solenoid, a coil wound onto a former, then it has failed and needs to be replaced.

Will have to try to track down a replacement, done a quick google and not coming up with much!

Yes I am fairly sure that it is indeed a simple solenoid. It is as you described with the `plunger` part totally loose from the throat of the solenoid (by design).

In its nuetral position the plunger is extended, when the required voltage is applied it travels into the throat of the solenoid, this controls the arm which releases the detergent door.

Thanks for your help, now do you know any online suppliers I am not having much look googling!!

Try

formatting link
- their catalogue is not online, but give them a ring, and I am almost 100% sure they will either have it, or be able to get it for you

Another one to try is

formatting link
- If they don't have it, they will probably be able to get it for you.
