The last time I needed to shift a washing machine into my car by myself, I used a couple of 4x2"s about 6' long. Sack trolly to get it to the car, timbers setup as a ramp into the tailgate. Spare blanket thrown over the timbers, then the machine tipped onto its side on the ramps. It could then slid up the ramp relatively easily (sliding on the blanket).
Similar would work in reverse - perhaps with longer timbers, or something like a "hop up"[1] at the foot end to raise them off the floor a bit.
