I've been on version 6 for some years. Is version 8 worth the update?
Anyone updated to Forte Agent v. 8?

Yes, I have, a long time ago. I don't recall much difference.
I believe it is no longer supported. The biggest issue is that the kill-files no longer expire after the selected time apparently because of the way the dates are calculated. OTOH I am not paying any subscription.
I'm still using version 2 (under Windows 10) I've collated a list of configuration changed to get it the way I like it, including this useful nugget, "Can't post to USENET if SMTP host name is blank".
