Access tower

Hi

I need a 20' high access tower with maximum 31" front to back footprint, and perferably adjustable legs as it'll be used on very uneven ground. It needs to be as cheap as possible. It will be bolted to a building, so doesnt need outriggers or great rigidity. The job won't run to a =A31,000 tower, or even close, and in this case I can't make my own with wood. Googling previously didnt get me anything small enough or cheap enough. What and where could I use?

PS a ladder would be unworkable, a cherry picker won't fit, most things won't fit, and custom scaffolding would be a problem as it needs to be removed after work each day. Not asking much am I!

Hiring a good quality access tower isn't that expensive. Even HSS isn't that pricey as they have to compete against builders merchants.

Do you mean 20' high or 20' working height? A 'working height' of 20' usually means an actual height of about 14', the assumption being that the user is about 6' tall.

It's worth looking for small local manufacturers for inexpensive towers who will customise to your requirements. I have 2 full towers and several half width sections made to measure - all made locally in Wolverhampton and costing only £80-00 per tower.

If you're anywhere close to Wolverhampton I'll can give you directions or possibly find a 'phone number. I doubt if they have any internet advertising.

I see they have one that would be ideal if it werent for the fixed height legs, their alloy 85cm towers. I dont know if that oculd be overcome in a compliant way. Thanks.

Many suppliers have a variety of "bits" if asked - screw-leg jacks are common.

It doesn't say so, but it's a Speedy 80 Tower and sold by various other places.

However the one above comes with bits you don't need such as the stabilisers. But you can by just the bits you need, so could get the price down a bit.

On the plus side. It will just about fit you size criterion I think (a quick measure outside gives me 30 inches. It is pretty quick and easy to put up and has adjustable feet (pin through holes, rather than screw, but it seems to be sufficient.
