25mm flexible overflow pipe for washbasin - where to get it?

Question

Some mice have eaten the overflow pipe on my M-I-L's wasbasin, there's very little of it left! So (as well as dealing with the mice) I need to replace the pipe.

I can't see anything that looks like the original pipe, it's was white (though that doesn't matter, it's concealed) and is the 'concertina' type to allow it to bend quite a lot without collapsing.

The spigots it has to push onto are just over 1" so I'd guess nominal

1" pipe is what I need.

but I don't think that's going to work very well because it will be difficult to fix firmly, especially at the rather inaccessible top (back of the wash basin) connection.

What I really need is a 300mm (or so) pipe with a flexible middle and smooth push on ends.

Any ideas anyone where I might find such a thing? My web searches haven't done too well, just turned up lots of stuff like the one above.

I had precisely the same problem and eventually found an old bit I had in my shed, I went to a plumber's merchant who did't have any and said I'd have to buy a whole new waste/trap assembly to get the pipe out of that.

Coincidentally, I did some wallpaper stripping for someone the other day and their steam wallpaper stripper had a long length of the very same stuff for taking the steam to the thing you hold on the wall so it must be available somewhere.

I'm not a massive fan of gunk fixes, but you might find some Plumbers Mait useful where you join.

When I changed our sink plug and overflow there was a very slight weep from the concertina-trap join that was fixed with a smear.

Presumably there is a fitting at the top that could be removed, hose fitted and then fitting replaced. That's what is on our kitchen sink, porcelain hand basins normally have the overflow as part of their construction, so I'm a bit confused.

Don't the fittings have gentle hose grips on the spigot? Provided the corrugated hose is a snug/tight fit (warm it slightly?) it's not likely to leak as there is very little pressure and is dry most of the time.

If the pipe is the right diameter that'll do fine, the description on the web doesn't give the pipe diameter though.  I can't fit the whole new thing as I'm oretty sure the holes are the wrong sizes.

I'm not sure if the top (overflow hole out of the basin) fitting is removable, it's certainly very inaccessible. It feels as if the existing (mouse eaten) pipe is just a push fit onto it.

There's no clip of any sort on the existing pipe. You're quite right of course that there's virtually no pressure on the joints, though the bottom one probably fills with water when you pull the plug.

If there isn't screw visible (or perhaps the plug chain attachment is a screw) the fitting inside the washbasin probably unscrews from the part outside. Male thread on the inside fitting. Beware if this fitting is anything like the one on our kitchen sink, it's a fine thread in thin plastic.

Not expecting there to be. Struggling describe what I mean.
