Because of recent re-works, it is necessary to move one fixing point for our washing line. Can anyone recommend a line which will span 16m with one central removable prop. A line that sags heavily in the middle when loaded with wet towels won't work as SWMBO is 5'-3" tall and needs useful line towards one end.

One fixed point at one end, and a pulley wheel and lock off point at the other. Tie the line to the fixed point, thread the line through the pulley and down to the anchor point. She can then lift and lower the line to suit her needs. You'll still need some sort of pole in the middle to hold the weight of a full line though.
