how do u rethread a nut

They don't normally re-thread a nut. If it's an actual nut, and not a more complex irreplaceable part with the female side of the thread on it, it just gets thrown away and a brand new one with the same thread gets installed. The threaded rod or a bolt that the nut mates with may be re-threaded because they are likely to be much more difficult to replace and may be an integral part of the device, so people would go through the trouble of doing it, but not for the nut.
