Apple Cider making

It's the first time I am making cider, I have juiced my apples and added the yeast. The first couple of nights the airlock was going nuts, bubbles every 10 to 20 seconds now it has slowed down a lot to bubbles every 1 to 2 minutes, is this right?

apple wood stump

My neighbour finally dug the apple stump out of the ground. This is about 2ft in diameter and weighs about 160 lb. I've heard several ways to dry out the burled wood without cracking, but I've never tried one before. Has anyone ever done a dry out on a stump burl without it cracking?

Apple pest question

I have an apple pest and I'm not sure what it actually is. The big three pests here are plum curculio, apple maggot, and coddling moth larva. I usually spray for plum curculio to protect my plums and spray the apples too because they get some damage as well.

apple maggot control

Further to my post(on edm.forsale), gal at Apache Seeds (on 149, N of SP Rd) thinks the infestation last fall may have been the codling moth, rather than apple maggots. I still think a. maggot more likely because our apples were fras free.

Apple rootstock propagation

Hello All, I'd like to try growing apple trees on my property in southcentral Ontario. Conditions are somewhat far from ideal with very shallow topsoil, moderate to poor drainage, and the shorter Canadian growing season.
