Per Shadow: The part of the interview that I picked up on was the part about lacking a central site that knows where the valid sites are. His contention was that, without that central site, it becomes easier to set up look-alike sites to harvest innocent people's data.

Hot dog!

It's commonly available at demolition sites, construction sites (for the shorter lengths), places where plumbing is being upgraded, and plenty of other free sources... (please note that while I am a cheapskate, I do buy new pipe for plumbing projects!)

OT computer problems OT

A lot of sites are now "sniffing" for that. It's also selling out its customers. you'd probably be better off to just use a HOSTS file. I rarely see ads, but neither do sites block me.

Confused.com

You follow links to insurance companies' web sites. If the details on an insurance company's web sites are "sketchy", or otherwise not to my liking, I don't accept the offer, and I try the next cheapest offer instead.

Powergen 10% + 30% <rant>

Of course not all suppliers may be listed but you can always use other "switch" sites that are about to check. But be aware that there is only 2 or 3 actual databases about and many different switch sites just offer slightly different looking interfaces to the same underlying data.

That strikes me as one of those sites that offer, "Get your own web page free! It's easy! We'll do all the work!" sites. I think we're witnessing another victim/dupe of a "get rich on the WWW" e-book! Ah, well; ...a fool and his money....

hl=en&q=woodworking+entertainment+center+plans.Do NOT include "free" as part of the search as that seems to be a magnet for the crap sites that have virus infected pop-ups and bogus liks. Some sites have free plans, such as Popular Mechanics, other places have reasonable priced ...

"A strong background in chemistry...", but "could not find any" sites addressing the dry cleaning procedure. That amusing: I found many such sites.

Ping TNP re gridwatch

It's more likely to be generation at a few key sites at the edge of the network that are sensitive to loss of connection - think sites in the North of Wales, and the extreme South West.
