Grizzly shapers G1026 (3hp) vs G7214 (7.5hp)

Those two don't look to me to be sufficiently close together to be the either-or choices--the larger one is a real industrial machine whereas the other is a higher-end home-shop or smaller cabinet shop.

Paslode Cordless Finish Nailer

Have always used air tools in my shop but recently bought the Paslode gun . Drove approx. 1000 1 1/2in 16 ga nails today on one battery and fuel cell and both are still going strong. The convience and quality of tool worth the price. I bought it to use primarily outside the shop.

Compressor Purchase Info Question

Planning to buy air compressor for 20x11 ft shop. Will be used to clean tools and shop, drive some brads, and nails up to 1.75 inches. No spray painting, or heavy duty use. Would like one that requires oil as I understand they are quieter and last longer.

Buying USA?

If you had been to china, you would know that chineese do not shop at big store (except for a small minority). They go to speciality shop and negotiate for hours.... a fun thing to watch... cyrille

Woodworking videos on iPods

Perfect for the shop - small, light and portable. I know some folks have TVs in the shop but is for entertainment or for instruction? Interested in comments. I'm doing some "back of the envelope" market analysis for myself. So any comments are appreciated. MJ Wallace

Combination machines.

I think that for most people it comes down to maximizing shop space. Getting a 12" sliding table saw, shaper, 12" jointer, 12" planer, and tenoning machine into a shop with separate components takes a lot of room. Combining them into a single machine saves a lot of space.

using tools on mobile bases

Mobility means a lot if you have a small shop like mine. The only way I could imagine doing without mobile machines is if you had a pretty large shop.

Electric meter from hell (for shop)

I run my entire shop through a 30 amp breaker out of my main box to a sub panel in the garage. I do have #4 lines running to the shop. If I run the RAS, dust collector, band saw, and balloon sander at the same time and the compressor kicks on I have been known to trip the breaker...
