Central Vac for shop?

When I run my dust collection lines, it'll be only a little more effort to run a smaller line (1 1/2" maybe 2") next to it for a vacuum. Dust collectors aren't really good at vacuum tasks, and the sanders seem to prefer vacuums. I've got a Ridgid WD1450 that would probably be used to power ...

OT; Shop lights ballasts

Ok, went into my shop last week, flicked on the overhead lights and damn, two of my lights are out. Changed the bulbs (T8s) and still nothing. I remembered that one of the fixtures that's hidden behind the overhead door, so I never see it, had a bad ballast.

Shop layout question (woodshop)

Finishing shop electrical, all in conduit. Shop is 36 feet long with the f= irst 24 feet being 10ft.=B1 wide and the last 12 feet being 12ft.=B1 wide. Two questions: 1) Shop floor (concrete) slopes 1 inch per 10 feet.

Shop wiring and lighting

I have been applying myself to getting the wiring installed in the shop, so far the only part completed is the 120V for outlets. All ran in emt, with 2 gang handy box every ten feet around the perimeter, making it impossible to get more than 5 feet from 2 duplex outlets.

Excitement in the shop!!!

As I was typing the last comments on my project glue up, I heard a crash in the shop. I knew what happened but did not want to look. The ton of clamps and cabinet weight got the best of one of my sawhorses.

Garage into Welding Shop

Would there be any building code applicable if I want to section off part of my garage for a small welding business? Or is this something I get business insurance for and they tell me the specs.?

Shop Vac losing suction

I have a Shop Vac that suddenly lost most of its suction. I thought the filter had gotten clogged but even with the filter off altogether, there's barely any suction. While they're not obscenely expensive, I like to try and keep something alive if possible.

shop vac hose conversion

I have a shop vac with a 2.5" hose, I'd like to neck it down to a 1.5" hose to make it easier to use. Does anyone know if they make a kit for this?
