Visit your local discount carpet shop and buy a piece of felt / felt-backed carpet which is quite reasonably priced, easy to lay loose and almost completely draught-proof. Get a piece large enough to cover the entire floor.

slow leak at iron pipe threads: how to get it tight when alignment is needed?

Take either or both of the nipples to a plumbing shop if you don't have that size pipe threader and have a half turn more thread cut in or as much as you judge will correct the problem. Reassemble with a Teflon pipe dope and your project should be leak free.

Another Sketchup Question

Using the free version, is it possible to determine the line weight of each single line of a drawing, either retrospectively, or before it is drawn? I can do this when manually tracing a pencil drawn scan with Paint Shop Pro, but then it doesn't do fancy perspective stuff.

Powered Computer Speakers - No Sound

I think I got my current pwrd spkrs (Sony Vaio) from a used computer shop, free, and I have another system, complete w/ a sub-woofer, rotting in the shed. Ppl are throwing them away. If you pay more than $15, even new, yer getting screwed. ;) nb

bye-bye land line telephone

They all came with bad batteries for free. I still have a few dead soldiers back in my shop but I am UPSed out here. ;-) There only seems to be 2 basic sizes with either 1 or 2 in each UPS (APC).

Buying online from their website you get charged some postage, using their Ebay shop, the pan is the same price but post free. hth

Anti foq safety glasses

If it can keep a visor condensation free on a frosty winters day I'm sure some safety specs won't present any problem at all. Any motorbike shop should have it. HTH Pete

Storing Nails

on 19/09/2006, dcbwhaley supposed : I use plastic trays with lids, from two free sources, both of which stack neatly- 1. Food containers as used by Chinese home delivery restaurants. 2. (and even better) the used penny sweet trays from our local sweety shop.
