Keeping slabs of fresh cut wood from splitting

I tried this with cherry, oak, pine and apple. Cutting green boards and stickering them is the traditional method. You want the wood to dry, but not too quickly. If you even want to bend wood, green wood is the way to go. I made curved chair backs this way.

How to pay painter and crew

Should I settle on a total price for the job and I pay for the paint and let him figure out and manage how many guys he uses? \ OR pay him man-hours. I am afraid if I go this route the job will take longer and end up paying more. Any ideas?

Neighbor, fence & "Who pay what?" question

I told him I didn't care whether it was a block wall or not, except that I would pay only 1/2 of what a **fence** would cost, and if he wants to pay the difference for a block wall to match his other wall, that's his business. Opinions? Fair? Thanks! SO

Chimney masonry work - pay for estimates?

My chimney is starting to show some wear and tear so I am trying to get estimates for repair. Every company I have contacted wants $95-$150 to do an inspection before they will do the estimate. I had one guy come over and do the inspection, but of course the other companies won't take his results ...

Do you pay kids in cash?

How do you pay them? Cash? Cashapp? Venmo? 1) Do cashapp or venmo require the payer to have a cashapp (or venmo) account? Or can one just use its webpage without having an account. (I'm sure it's the latter but googling kept giving answers to the wrong question.)

What do YOU pay for broadband?

Here. IDNET, fixed IP address. ADSL2+. 6596kbps DOWN 1059kbps UP Line rental + broadband is £28 + 20% VAT. £30.80 PAYG phone calls extra on that - usually a couple of quid a month... Mobile - PAYG as well on 3 Mobile. Generally also a couple of quid a month.
