Pipe sizes

Jan 02, 2006 1 Replies

Hello. I wonder if you professionals would tell me about some pipe sizes?

Size of water main pipe in the street? Size of water pipe from the street (water main) to the house.?

Size of main sewer pipe in the street? Size of sewer line from the main to the house? I guess you call these laterals?

I understand that these sizes are per code, but if you could give me a range it sure would help!

I am assuming whatever these sizes are that you would NOT find these sizes IN the house

Thanks again. Missy

I'm not sure why you ask the question but there is no single correct answer. As "Red Jacket" has already said the minimum standard for the house lines would be 3/4" for the water service and usually 4" for the sewer line. As for the mains in the street they could be anywhere from 2" and up on the water mains and 4" and up on the sewer. Not to mention that there are a variety of materials and connection standards for the various materials. In short...there is no way we can answer the question without more information.
