Neighbor had a pet door for his cats to come in and out and one day went to the kitchen to see a raccoon eating the cat food. If it were a skunk it would have been interesting.
Skunks have never bothered me much as they might dig in the lawn a little but raccoons get into things like your garbage. Then there is endemic rabies for raccoons and now I see from site you cited that skunks can have it too.
