Hi all, I’m having an issue with the gutters on my house overflowing whenever we get heavy rain. I’ve cleaned out the leaves and debris, but water still seems to spill over the front in a couple of places. Could this be down to the gutter not having enough slope, the downpipe being too small or partly blocked, or something else? Is there an easy way to check before I call someone out? Thanks.
Why does my gutter overflow when it rains?

Maybe run a garden hose up the downspout to flush out leaves etc?

I wonder if in the area where the water is spilling over the nail(s) holding the gutter to the soffit may either be bent or loose and letting the gutter in that area sag a little. Or, if the gutter is metal, is it bent slightly down where the overflow is noticed.
We had over-spill problems in a previous home. Our gutters were standard size (2" x 3"). We replaced them with the larger (3" x 4") sized gutters and downspouts and never again had an over-spill even in the heaviest storms. It was expensive but cheaper than it would have been to have damage to our foundation that would require an even greater expense to repair.
