Which subfloor should be laid down to original floor planks prior to laying vinal laminate tiles? Would you use 1/4" luan or poplar sheets? And fasten them via stainless staples, ring nails, or screws? This is for a salty sandy seasonal summer cottage at the beach. I have removed the tiles and am replacing them with new ones on account of edges curing up after many years of daily winter freezing/thawing temperatures through all the windows facing west.
