Would a manifold at the drain outlet be an option? Let it spread the sand over a wider area. The Nebraska Sandhills is exactly that, yet some of the best ranches in the state are there. They raise corn there also but with different techniques than in the southeast where there are clay and loam type soils.

Exactly, plus what Ed added. I was going to suggest a settling tank, where the sand settles and the water is allowed to drain out. That's exactly what a bucket or a tank would do. Periodically, just scoop out the excess sand.
