For a sears kenmore room window air conditioner 7000btu what could cause the condenser motor to shut off for a bit, then restart and repeat that periodically?... in this



99 degree 44% humidity 73 degree dew point weather.

The condenser motor did not turn off for a bit, restart and repeat it periodically this past week but it did do it on that other very hot day the previous week.

Some Kenmore window units have axial propeller fan blades on both the condenser & evaporator sides. If either the air filter or either coil is partially plugged it could pull too many amperes and the overloaded motor will get too hot causing it to cycle off on the limit.

When it cools enough it will start again. - udarrell
