Removing veneer

Does anyone have tips for removing damaged veneer from a tabletop? The table is about 70 years old and the finish has already been stripped.

You can weaken the glue with heat. Try a clothes iron on a low setting. Pry up the veneer with a putty knife or equivalent as you go. If you need to, carefully increase the temperature of the iron. The idea is to loosen the glue in small sections, not scorch the veneer.

Good Luck.
