Recliner problem

Aug 29, 2011 1 Replies

About 15 years ago, I bought a recliner chair (not a La-Z-Boy) recliner at a department store.

The foot-rest has become very hard to raise and lower using the handle. The foot-rest also raises all by itself -- without using the handle -- becoming a tripping hazard.

How can I frix these problems?

That depends on what the problem is. Could be something loose underneath, like screws holding the mechanism pulling out of the frame. Or a spring getting weak. Or a lever on the pin getting worn, or the fulcrum point getting worn.

Have you turned it over and investigated? Have you seen any parts on the floor under it?
