Prep for painting -- using a pressure washer

Is it safe to assume that whatever paint doesn't come off the siding with a high-pressure jet of water is OK to leave in place and paint over

-- with primer first, of course?

Or does it still need a good scraping and/or wire-brushing?

It needs scraping. I just power-washed a wall. and only part of the loose paint came off. A ton more came off with the scraper.

If you use the power washer enough to get _all_ the loose paint off, you'll damage the wood.

Note: Wait a few days before priming to let the wood dry out.
