OT Why I like my area of Florida

It is a pain when you are in pain between the government and the insurance company. People dying from opiates are dying from the street drugs mainly heroin laced with fentanyl.

Pain doctors do tend to oversubscribe and some to the point of criminality.

I had a broken collar bone that had to be surgically repaired and hurt like hell. I hate opiates and just took ibuprofen for a couple of months. That gave me high liver enzymes at company physical but doctor thought it was drinking, told me to stop and see doctor and it would take months to come down. They were down next blood test as I had quit the pain killer and drinking does no harm today over 30 years later.

I had a little place at 18th and F I liked for lunch in High School. A burger, chips and a draft beer for a buck. I never got carded.

That is way too much diesel. 50# of Ammonium Nitrate doesn't need much more than a quart of diesel. You will need a high explosive to set it off. A blasting cap might work but Timmy had a quarter pound block of C4. OTOH a high velocity round seems to work.

My daughter was manager of a dental practice. Patient, young male, cam in about 1 PM and asked for the pain pill prescription before his 4 o'clock appointment. She told him, "sorry, can't be done". He pinned her against the wall and demanded it. He missed the 4 o'clock appointment as he was in jail at the time.

Same here. I ended up trading my Percodan to a buddy for a half gallon of Johnny Walker Black.

I managed to break mine in two places in Jacksonville FL. I picked up the load and headed for Montana. No way in hell was I going to an ER in Florida. Ate a lot of ibuprofen but I made it. Hardest part was shifting into high gear since you have to push the gearshift away from you. Pulling it back wasn't so bad.

Damn bicycles have almost been the death of me.

I can''t remember the last time I was asked for government id.

What need? I don't know anybody in another state. I live a few miles from an excellent hospital. If I got "Mayo clinic" sick, I'd probably save time and shoot myself.

I liked cycling but now there is no way I would fly down the road unprotected. I was having trouble shifting into high gear going downhill and threw the chain locking the wheel and got thrown over the handlebars at about 20 mph. Helmet saved my head but snapped collarbone in two. It would not knit by itself and needed surgery months later.

Neighbor out back had a bad motorcycle accident and still limps today but still rides his motorcycle.

Don't get out much, eh?

Helluva thing spending your days sitting on the front porch with a wad of Red Man in your cheek squirting juice past the yellow dog...waving as them cars drive on by ;-)

This Real ID is in response to 911. I guess most states agree that getting on an airplane requires higher security than voting. It took the various govts more than twenty years and it's still not done. Even better, the IDs don't even all look the same. Most states have a star on them of one color, some have a star of a different color and a few states have no star at all. Good example of how govt works and the Democrats want more of it. Here in NJ to get one you have to pay for a whole new cycle on your license again, which runs for I think three or four years all over again. So it you have two years left, screw you, pay all over again. I'm mid way through my cycle and with Covid, don't have any plans to get on a plane anytime soon, so I'm in no rush to go get one either.

Speak for yourself. I have to show Id to vote in person. I have to show Id to pick up a ballot at township hall. They won't let me pick up my husband's ballot at all.

I'm getting timid and really like bike trails these days. I used to take the scenic route to town but it's a narrow two lane road where the fog line is on the edge of the pavement with no shoulder. It's also frequented by F-350 dualies pulling horse trailers. People here are pretty good with bicyclists but all it takes is a minor miscalculation.

The helmet is around someplace but i haven't used it since. i have gotten better with motorcycle helmets though.

I get out a lot -- mostly to the woods. The bears and mountain lions aren't interested in id. They used to ask for my DL and Medicare card at my yearly checkup but didn't the last time. They're on record and nothing has changed since they went away from your SS (not to be used for identification) number on the Medicare card.

I suppose a motel asking for ID would fall in that category but motels are a fond memory from 2019.

Besides, it's a black cat sitting on the porch with me.

I think the last time I voted in person was in 2000. They mail me the ballots. Last year was great because it was a post paid mailer. Usually it costs me 47 cents or whatever a stamp goes for these days. Sometimes if the ballot is for judges or school board slots it isn't worth a stamp and I submit the ballot to the garbage can.

If the vote was rigged last year it was rigged the right way because most of the Democrats lost by 10 point margins. It usually isn't that clear cut and we've wound up with a governor and lieutenant governor from different parties on occasion.

The way the government works, you might not have a choice. Florida makes everyone get "real ID" as far as I know. I didn't see an opt out provision. It was really easy anyway. I have finally exhausted my "renew by mail" times anyway I think so I had to go. I know they actually want to see your smiling face every 20 years or so instead of just mailing in your tax. I am 75 so it is not an unusual request although I suspect I will be dead before I have to show up again. My FIL is 93 and he still has a good license but that may change next year when he has to go in. It is still just an eye test tho. I bet he takes the exemption letter from his eye doctor. He probably can come up with a birth certificate, written on parchment. Want a scary ride? Screw the roller coasters, go with him up to the Burger King. My BIL says it is definitely an E ticket ride. I always drive when I am in that bad ass Cadillac.

The only time I ever got hurt on a motorcycle was off road and I rode on the street for years, more than occasionally under the influence of various stuff. (back when it was legal) I am happy to be over that 2 wheel stuff and still healthy.
