OT I learned, and saw, years ago that the number of Canadian geese around here (Baltimore) in parks and cemeteries and even once in the grassy field next to my neighborhood was increasing and that they and their poop were annoying a lot of people, and it occurred to me about a year ago that these things are big, so how come more people aren't catching them and eating them?
So I googled and it turns out they taste terrible. Now trump is pretending that Haitians of all people are eating them. I doubt it -- one can generally assume anything trump says is false -- but it would be a community service if they did.

If they are indeed Canadian geese - they can be deported as illegal aliens. But if, in fact, they are Canada geese your options are few.

I used to hunt them and they taste fine. I heard snow geese coming out of marshes tasted bad but those feeding in fields are OK.
The resident population of Canada geese may now exceed the migrants that flew back and forth from Canada to US. There are separate seasons here in Delaware and small bag limits. The snow geese once protected here practically have no bag limit today as they are pests that tear up the marsh.

Like the other newcomers the damn geese take over all the available housing. The nest near me isn't high profile like the one by the ball field so the geese usually move in before the osprey come home from their California vacation. The nest is on a platform on a fake power pole to prevent the osprey from using the real ones. I've never seen it but when it's time the goose shoves the goslings over the side. They bounce a few times when they hit the ground and then she leads them off to the river.
They all should go back to Alberta.

I don't think I've ever had goat but I'm not a fussy carnivore. I've had manakeesh from one of the local food trucks, so maybe. A ranch down the road had been doing sheep but a couple of years ago they switched to goats. I've been meaning to stop and ask why. A couple of other people have few goats but not a large scale operation.
This summer I was at a bluegrass festival and a woman had a goat on a leash. Someone else had a Rottweiler type dog, also on a leash, that was sniffing the goat's butt trying to figure out what kind of dog it was. The goat didn't seem to mind.

I don't recall the event, but my older sister told us that Dad brought home a goose for either Thanksgiving or Christmas, I can't remember which. Her take on it was that it was extremely greasy.
Of course according to the Christmas Carol 'Christmas Day is Coming' the goose was a standard at one time, presumably in England.

I've eaten goose as a child, prepared at my grandmother's house (New York City), and at a restaurant in Budapest as an adult. Both times, roasted. Both times, delicious, tender, and not fatty at all. The meat is very dark colored. I suspect the trick is knowing how to prepare it, letting the fat drip out but not letting the meat become dried out.

Of course there is more than one kind of goose, Canadian Geese, also call Canada gees, Tory geese, American refugee geese, Canuck geese. The ones they now offer for dinner might be better than the wild ones, because really there are hundreds here in two cemeteries alone, pooping all over the place, and I've never heard of anyone catching one and eating it.

wild birds are protected. Its a criminal offence to capture, kill or injure a wild goose. --- that might be part of it but that doesn't stop people from illegal parking, speeding, breaking into homes, cars, stores, banks. In fact those geese in the cemeteries, are they not sleeping and vulnerable at night, and too far from houses for anyone to notice if they squawk. The two I have in mind have no gates and the hundred or more geese at each one hang out near the entrance, away from the graves, so nothing to avoid walking on or tripping over.

Goose season is Sept 28 to Jan 10 here. There is a daily limit of 20 white geese and 5 dark geese. Smells like racism to me.

Sandhill crane and Swan licenses are a special drawing but feel free to shoot the damn geese. (with your conservation, hunting, and waterfowl permits in order). Just use non-toxic shot.

I never hunted geese so not sure if true or not. Heard that you had to shot them while they were going away as the feathers and skin was so tough the shot would not penetrate unless it went in from behind.

The Marlin Model 5510 'Super Goose' was a 10 gauge bolt action. I don't even want to think about that. I had a Mossberg 12 gauge bolt action and that was enough for me. I don't know if Browning still makes a 10 but at least the action would soak up a little energy.
There is a season so I assume somebody hunts them but nobody I know personally. They're all into elk with a fall back to deer.
