OT: Christmas gift suggestions for kids who like gadgets/electronics

I have teenage grandson who really loves to tinker, take stuff apart, modify. When younger, he was always taking stuff apart, just to see what's in it. Knows computers, cell phones, RC cars, etc. very well. Are there stores, books, kits that would be interesting for a really smart 16 y/o? Appropriate suggestions much appreciated :o)

I am getting one of these for a retired family member:

There is also a USB interface available so you can connect it and control it from a computer.
