Oil Burner Shutting Off

I changed the controls on my burner tonight and the burner is still shutting off. I watched the burner run through its cycle and once the hot water heater hit temperature the burner turned off and the reset button popped up to break the circuit at the same time. I've also replaced the pump, nozzle and transformer. Does this sound like it could be the thermostat?

I guess I meant reostat not thermostat.

If it's an oil fired domestic hot water heater, it's an aquastat. You should have the burner adjusted by someone with proper equipment
