Maytag washer won't spin.

Washer seems to wash OK and rinse OK but when it goes into the spin cycle, the timer just runs and then advances to off. The lid switches are OK obviously. I had the front cover off and the motor and pump are doing nothing.

Hi,

Which washer? Top load, front load? Model#?

formatting link
model# helps.

Does the motor run during the spin mode?

You tested them/it?

If the agitation circuit is completed through the lid switch (it agitates with lid closed, stops when it is open), then you know that the motor, belt, lid switch are in working order. The only isolated component that differs in spin then is the timer.

Thanks. I looked at the problem a little bit last night. When the timer is clicking I assume the timer motor is running because it advances all the way to off but nothing happens. I put my volt meter on the motor while the timer was in spin position but

110 volts never showed up at the motor. I guess its possible the the timer can run and the contacts for spin are bad. I am going to probaly get a timer monday and change it. Thank you for your help.

No the motor does not run. I put my volt meter on the motor and 110 volts never showed up athe the motor when the dial advanced to spin. The timer kept running all the way to off but voltage never appeared at the motor. I assume the contacts are bad for the spin circuit at this point. Thanks.
