Low flush toilets and your sewer line

It also gets light later. I'm an early morning riser, so during DST months I rise either in darkness or with the sun just rising.

For the record, even if it were to be agreed that they are a bad idea, that doesn't make them a scam. They are meant to save water, and they do most of the time. That there can be problems doesn't change that. No one is being tricked or cheated, which are the requisites for a scam.

I suspect that you don't live in California and that you're not in charge of making sure your town has adequate water to meet demand.

None of this makes them a scam, either.

Right now it is getting light here about 5 AM. Without DST it would be

4 Am. Very few people are up then but a few are. In winter it matters much less as it will be dark until 6:45 or so. Since I retired, I don't care what time the sun comes up, it always beats me.

... Theckma, the village idiot, mounts up on the rotting corpse of his dead hobby horse. Theckmah gets an extra hour of stupid twice a year, but sometimes he needs to be a gibbering idiot in summer, too! In another newsgroup, he's crying like a toddler because someone thread-drifted, but meanwhile, here, he want to make his own drooling ignorance of DST the new subject of the thread.

But you don?t understand how DST works. You're too stupid. Your little grape-sized brain is too small and defective.

The reason is that your momma used to lock you in a suitcase, and your daddy kicked the suitcase down the stairs. You were already a stupid kid, but you suffered enormous damage to your brain (and your personality), making you a dumbfuck asshole pariah with no friends. So you set your sights on an unpaid career as a drooling cretinous village idiot on usenet. JSAUH. FCKWAFA!

  • Like I asked previously, how does DST benefit energy companies? Your arguments don't hold water.

Sure people get home from work/school earlier by the sun and need more energy at home- but that's more than offset by the reduced power demands in the now-empty office buildings, factories, and school rooms.

As for Indiana's power increase, the population grew, more homes and apartments were built/occupied, more Greenie/libbies bought those all-electric rechargeable cars, and more energy-consuming businesses moved into the state. So of course power demands increased...

    Wade Garrett:

9-5, by the sun or by the clock, is still 8 hours. So no saved energy at work or school.

It is also warmer out at

1600 solar than 1700 solar. So A/C demand will be higher with people getting home at 1700DST. Also, more energy is consumed for lighting and heating in the mornings, during the March-April and October

-November portions of the DST period.

Gasoline consumption also goes up during DST, with more driving around on evenings with more light.

Not a significant, but definite overall increase in energy consumption.

Some people use too much paper. Always thought women worse than men because of anatomy. I had read a while back that some hotels in Greece required paper be put in a can next to the toilet but friend that travels there frequently said she had not heard of it.

That is not unusual in the 3d world.

I don't know and I don't really care. I'm just glad that Arizona does not observe DST. If you see a list of Time Zones across the US, it shows "Arizona Time".

I'm surprised they use toilet paper.

    THE MIRACLE OF TOILET PAPER

Fresh from her shower, she stands in front of the mirror complaining to her husband, Joe that her breasts are too small.. Instead of characteristically telling her it's not so, Joe uncharacteristically comes up with a suggestion.

"If you want your breasts to grow, then every day, take a piece of toilet paper and rub it between them for a few seconds."

Willing to try anything, she fetches a piece of toilet paper and stands in front of the mirror, rubbing it between her breasts. "How long will this take?"she asks??.

"Well, They will grow larger over a period of years," her husband replies.

She stopped. "Do you really think rubbing a piece of toilet paper between my breasts every day will make my breasts larger over the years?"

Without missing a beat Joe says, "Well, it sure worked for your ass, didn't it?"

Yes!! Joe's is still alive and with a great deal of therapy, he may even walk again, although he will probably continue to take his meals through a straw.
