DE is the corporate state. Corporate taxes pay nearly half the state budget otherwise the tax situation might be just as bad as PA or NJ.

While not taxes, in NC some counties had beer and liquor stores next to the border of the counties that did not permit them. It has only been in the last 20 or so years that some wised up to that and voted in the alcohal sales. Not sure if th emoney went to it, but was suppose to go to schools. The state lottery came about because the money was suppose to go to schools. Probably never made it,or money that used to go to schools was reduced by the lottery money.

It is pretty hard these days with an electric meter. If you unplug it they know when and for how long. The Odo on a car is stored in ROM in the ECU. You can replace the ECU but it might cost as much as you would save by rolling back the odo and anyone who was looking would know that wasn't the original ECU.

When there were more cows in rural Lee County (Fl) than people the tax collector bought a couple RVs and he would set up in different parking lots around the county for stuff like that. It was really easy. Just look in the paper to see what day one was near you and go. It was a whole lot cheaper than renting office space for a minimal crowd.

I suppose that is good for the residents of DE. Everyone else is subsidizing your government in the price of the products they buy from those corporations.

If you look at school budgets, you will see lottery money doesn't even bump the needle. It was just a PR thing to sell the lottery to people. In the last 33 years the lottery brags about giving "education" $39 billion total. My little school board spends $1.5 billion a year and there are 66 other counties with their straw in that cup. It is also a very regressive way to tax.

PA had agents staking out liquor stores in DE and MD and would arrest their residents coming home. The smart ones would tell the agents that they were driving to the tax man to pay the PA tax.

When millionairs (many in government) are makeing the rules and are being put in office by the billionairs does anyone really think they are going to pass any laws where there are not loopholes for the billionairs and high millionairs to get out of taxes ? Some of the billionairs are moving to other countries to get out of the taxes.

Still too bad there can not be some kind of flat tax rate and no deductions of any kind and no tax shelters.

Most tax incentives are paying people to do things they wouldn't ordinarily do. I suspect few actually work out.
