How to report this dangerous Chinese crap?

If the link is dead (hopefully it will be soon), search for this.... Power Plus voltage tester RGLH-02

I bought one of these last week (locally - not from ebay) -- on the outside chance that it might not be completely worthless, which it was. First thing I did was check a 110VAC receptable that I knew was live and the light did not illuminate. I wonder how many people will use this death trap to test a circuit, then get shocked.

I took it apart to see why it wasn't lighting up. Everything is loose inside. Even the bulb is not sealed -- the leads are draped out of the glass tube and the metal end caps are pushed over them.

The way it's made, if the light did actually conduct current and you had your hand on the pocket clip, you would get a jolt.

I would like to report this company to the govt so that in case someone does get hurt, they will already be put on notice and will get their butts sued.

Hi, At least you can report to eBay. Is the bulb neon? One like that for 12V DC was common tool on automotive electrical work.

Good luck with that!

Millions of people are suffering serious health effects caused by GMOs yet our corrupt government won't even require GMO food labeling.

Even China doesn't want BiggieFoods's GMO corn.

Nonsense.

Documentation of identified issue from GMO????

China's doing what they're doing primarily for trade protectionism reasons.

Start looking in government directories for

1 = safety 2 = consumer In most places, municipal and national agencies share responsibility for safety from accidents. Consumer protection (value for money) is another shared public responsibility.

One that comes to mind is the hard fight to prevent labeling.

Personally, I'd want to get my money back but reporting to the government is like pissing into the wind. You see what a great job they are doing with telemarketing scammers ant things like the misleading ads on TV and radio. Then if the government does get them and fines them, they just take the money for themselves, not the offended consumer.

It looks like we'll be seeing, once again, which farms and ag businesses are well managed. The boom looks to be over. These last couple years were the best in my memory since the mid 70s.

All political pretty much ignoring the science (or more specifically lack there of). Heck EU since the first of the year released another report saying they found no health or other concerns.

Doctors Warn: Avoid Genetically Modified Food

by Jeffrey M. Smith

On May 19th, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) called on "Physicians to educate their patients, the medical community, and the public to avoid GM (genetically modified) foods when possible and provide educational materials concerning GM foods and health risks."[1] They called for a moratorium on GM foods, long-term independent studies, and labeling. AAEM's position paper stated, "Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food," including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. They conclude, "There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation," as defined by recognized scientific criteria. "The strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease is confirmed in several animal studies."

More and more doctors are already prescribing GM-free diets. Dr. Amy Dean, a Michigan internal medicine specialist, and board member of AAEM says, "I strongly recommend patients eat strictly non-genetically modified foods." Ohio allergist Dr. John Boyles says "I used to test for soy allergies all the time, but now that soy is genetically engineered, it is so dangerous that I tell people never to eat it."

Dr. Jennifer Armstrong, President of AAEM, says, "Physicians are probably seeing the effects in their patients, but need to know how to ask the right questions." World renowned biologist Pushpa M. Bhargava goes one step further. After reviewing more than 600 scientific journals, he concludes that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are a major contributor to the sharply deteriorating health of Americans.

Uh, were you touching the metal pocket clip when you first tried using it and the bulb didn't light?

The operating principle of that kind of tester uses the capacitance of your body to draw enough AC charging/discharging current to make the neon lamp light. The current is too small to give you a shock even if your body was grounded.

If you have a friend who is an electrical engineer take it to him and see if he agrees with me.

"The AAEM opposes the use of mercury-containing compounds in any product for human consumption, including mercury in vaccines. The AAEM also opposes water fluoridation and has called for a moratorium on food from genetically modified crops. The AAEM has been cited as an illegitimate organization by Quackwatch, for promoting the diagnosis of multiple chemical sensitivity. They are not recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties."

Yes, that's how properly designed testers work. The input lead to the bulb on this particular one was loose and was in contact with the pocket clip, shorting to the clip.
