How to get rid of gap from sink edge to backsplash open original image

I have a kitchen sink that is about 1/2 inch from the backsplash. I am messy when it comes to water and without fail, I get water back there. I would love to find a gadget or way to get rid if the gap so the water just comes back into the sink. I noticed my friend had the same issue and the caulk gets nasty. Any suggestions?

Rip a piece of vinyl trim at an angle and use some clear silicone to hold it in place?

Would something like this work if the color was right?

Clean it with a spone dampened in a bleach solution.

Clean more frequently.

Or replace the countertop and sink with an undermount sink.
