Help! Squerels chewed at my deck railing

They are all fuzzy, the railing I mean. They seem to do that when the weather gets cold. Don't know it is because of hunger or because they like it chilled. pac

In article , snipped-for-privacy@verizon.not says... :) They are all fuzzy, the railing I mean. They seem to do :) that when the weather gets cold. Don't know it is because :) of hunger or because they like it chilled. :) :) Probably more as a teething ring. You might find Ropel at home Depot type stores, spray down the rood and works pretty good. Other products can be found that are made of pepper juices, shorter lasting, can stain the wood a reddish color.

I know someone who built a log home and the squirrels chewed the wooden handles of any tools he left on the porch (salt from sweat I guess).

My sister used red hot pepper when she planted corn to discourage chipmonks or ground squirrels, and they left it alone after digging up just a few seedlings.

But when my brother tried to discourage his dog from chewing on the woodwork in his house using hot pepper, it just gave the dog a taste for Mexican food (he loves it).
