Today, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis issued a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) requesting information on the fire risks associated with saltwater on electric vehicles (EVs). In the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, the CFO expressed concerns that fire teams may need more support to prepare for inevitable fires and expressed that it may not be a question of “if,” but “when.” See the full letter attached.

Simple point is that the EV's there amount to about 0.02%. Amount so far is trivial. Wait until they are available in large numbers, then we will see.

And your statistic of "more dead deer then EV's" was somehow supposed to lead us to that 0.02% number?

I was paraphrasing Scotty Kilmer talking about one of his trips basically saying there are few EV's on the road. Wait until most of them are and we will see the fun start like with lines at charging stations and let the fires begin.

You and your unfounded hysteria mongering. 15% of all automobile sales in California this year are EVs. That's 15% of 2 million, or 300,000 EVs this year alone.

It seems like every other car is an EV around here. And there are no lines at charging stations, and they are 90% less likely to catch fire than any gasoline powered vehicle.

Forget the percent sales. What about all the ICE vehicles still on the road. Too early to worry about charging stations but we all recall the governor telling the EV owners not to charge their vehicles during the heat wave.
