drywall job

greetings, i might have a small drywall job to do for a friends neighbor. i have done lots of drywall work before (nonpaying) and i'm not sure how to price it out. is there a accepted amount to charge by square footage? i will know more about how much is involved tomorrow , but for now i'm sure that the job will be straight forward (drywall, tape mud and sand) this guys basement (no ladder or scaffolding needed). i will also be supplying the material. i,m not a pro but my past drywall work has been quality and i'd hate to charge to little for the job thanks, cj

Never mind the square footage. Quote it based on what your time is worth plus materials plus 20% up charge on the materials. The key is deciding how long it will take you ;-)

Also, if you're wondering-- your time is worth about what the going rate is for a skilled tradesman in your area. If you know a general contractor, ask him for an estimate. Or call a plumber and ask him what he's charge you for a two hour job...

Going rate here including materials and ceilling texture is about

1.50 s.f. .... more for jobs smaller that 15 hundred s.f. of board.
