Curiosity #1
I have oil heat with forced air. After I retired my sleeping schedule became unscheduled, erratic, and so I stopped using the setbacks and the winter temperature is set for the same thing 24/7 all winter long. Circulation fan is single speed with 3 choices. I have it set to the slowest speed.
Most of the air ducts have furniture over or in front of them. Only the bathrooms have a clear shot, and even if the house is the right temperature in cold weather, it feels good to have warm air blowing on my legs.
This morning I noticed, maybe, that the air was warmer than usual, or it was blowing harder. Didn't sleep well, lay down on my back almolst sitting up and noticed my right shoulder was getting more warm air than usual. Not so much a maybe but still hard to believe. Did the fan change speeeds/
Woke up at 2PM. So hottttt. Did the thermostat break? I have put a switch in the upstairs escucheon for the laundry chute, so I can turn off the furnace/ac without going downstairs. Still too hot. 85 or more.
Open the door downstairm part way for 90 minutes. Okay downstairs, still too hot upstairs.
What happened? Thermostat broken? Fan changed speed on its own (normally takes changing which wire connects to the AC)?
One more factoid. The cold water pipe to the powder room must go too close to the furnace, because its water is hot for 2 or 3 seconds when I first turn it on. Today, it was so hot it stung.
