Does anyone know the average cost of installing tile per sq ft in the Tampa Bay area of Florida?

Sort of like asking "how big is a cloud?" Tiles come in about 50 different material, all costing something different for installation. Over wood, over concrete, on a wall. on a counter
I had my est done yesterday....
Chinaman came in, would not speak a "word of engless" looked for about 10 min - said two sousand dollas, no? 2.66 per tile with you underlayment, baseboards, mortar, etc, etc....
Sounds like DIY for me.
Someone must know.
