Coal Bin Door Question

Hello, How do you build a door for your basement, coal bin to shovel out the coal for the stove hopper? If you build a regular door all the coal will come rushing out when you open the door. The coal bin is 4' X 8' by 4' high, and can hold about 3 ton of nut/pea coal?

Ours had a door frame, but no door. From the bottoms of the frame up about four feet they had two boards, leaving a slot up each side. Boards were then inserted into the slots, and slid down to block the opening, but about a board worth's of space was left open at the bottom. You shovel the coal out through that space at the bottom. When the bin was empty, you could remove all the boards if you wanted access.
