circuit trips when disposal turned off

I replaced a sink garbage disposal. When turned on it runs fine but as soon as I shut off the switch the breaker trips. I replaced the wall switch, but still have the same problem. Any suggestions? Marty

If it's wired through an AFCI or GFCI, the unit may have a ground fault. Try a standard breaker
