The stain has soaked through the carpet into the pad. When you are cleaning the carpet you are only cleaning the top portion, the fibers, and not the carpet backing nor padding.
Try "really soaking" the stained area. No, don't need to dump a bucket of the cleaning solution there, but give the stained area more time for the solution to penetrate deeper, then remove. Several applications is not uncommon to remove all of the stain.
