Anyone had this problem before? PHV1800 Series 2 retractable handheld vacuum unit was working fine until we took filter out for emptying/cleaning. When we put it back, it does three times the speed and makes five times the (now almost unbearable) noise that it did before. AND seems less efficient. The adjustable switch does still control speed but now virtually all settings except the slowest seem way too loud/fast.
This is a very simple device in which there are only 3 parts and no way I can see for getting re-assembly wrong?? The manual only says to be careful to lock the parts in place and all parts do seem to be fully locked all-the-way both before closing and after re-opening.
Is there something obvious I am missing please?
