Does it seem normal that a relatively expensive, Panasonic FV-08VQ3 unit would crap out in just
10 years? I se the warranty was only for 5 years....

Few products even have a 5 year warranty. How long it lasts also depends on use. Does it run 5 minutes a day while in the shower or is it left on for hours at a time? When you take a dump are the fumes very corrosive?
Good point. I'd estimate 3 hrs / week.
10 years is doing pretty good. The cheap Nutones etc often die in 3 Double the warranty means the beancounters miscalculated - - -
It isnt even possible to calculate so that the thing dies just after the warranty expires given the very variable use of those fans.
